Recent Gift Reflects Early Morristown History
The watercolor painting on the left is a recent gift to our library. It illustrates the family home of Major Daniel Phoenix, who was a local merchant, property owner and civic leader in the late 18th and early 19th centuries in Morristown. The house stood on the current site of the old Y.M.C.A building, which is now a commercial space known as the Courthouse Plaza. The building is located across from the Morris County Courthouse at 60 Washington Street in Morristown.  Read more...

Exhibit: Pawn Stars, Fake Money and Chancy Die Rolls: The History of Classic Board Games
The library is putting together an exhibit on the history of some of the most classic board games from Monopoly to Risk. The exhibit will be on display in the second floor, F.M. Kirby Gallery from September 26 through December 1. It will feature various types of board games, examining games of strategy, ones geared toward children, ‘home games’ of TV game shows, ones involving money and even the appearance of popular culture in board games.  Read more...
