Friends of the Library

Who are the Friends of the Library? What do they do?

The purpose of the Friends of the Morristown & Morris Township Library shall be to further public interest in and greater use of the Library and its facilities. This shall be done by raising funds for Library needs not included in the budget and by sponsoring special programs." [From the Friends' Constitution]

Friend's Outside Book SaleThe Friends are the library's hands-on volunteers. They get dusty hauling and sorting used books for the sales that bring the library more than $20,000 a year, provide a kind of book recycling service for the community, and offer shoppers inexpensive books for their personal libraries. The Friends plan lectures and other programs for the community,  publish the quarterly Library News, prepare and serve an annual luncheon for library staff and volunteers and they stand ready to help with special events, purchases, projects or emergencies.

Join the Friends

Anyone may join the Friends by paying the annual dues (15.00 dollars for an individual) that help support the Library.

Volunteers Needed for Saturday Book Sales

The Friends of the Library are actively seeking new volunteers to help out with bi-monthly sales of used books beginning September 16. Volunteers are needed for both morning (9:45 to 12:00) and afternoon (12:00 to 2:15) sessions. Other Saturday fall dates are October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18, and December 2 and 16. We would welcome your participation in this worthwhile endeavor, all proceeds benefiting the Morristown & Morris Township Library.
